Valley View ISD is sharing important information with families of students in grades 9–12 regarding My Texas Future and new requirements established by Texas Senate Bill 2314.
What is My Texas Future?
My Texas Future is a free online college and career planning resource for Texas students. Students can explore career options, learn about colleges and universities, and prepare for the college application process.
The platform also includes Direct Admissions, which allows students to learn whether they may qualify for admission to participating Texas colleges and universities based on their academic information.
New Graduation Requirement
Beginning with the 2026–27 school year, students must satisfy a new Direct Admissions requirement before graduating from high school.
Students can meet the requirement by:
- Creating a My Texas Future profile and electing to participate in Direct Admissions; or
- Completing the appropriate Direct Admissions opt-out process.
Families may update a student's My Texas Future profile and may choose to opt out of one or more My Texas Future programs.
Students in Grades 9–12 Can Get Started Now
Students are encouraged to create a free My Texas Future account and begin exploring college and career opportunities.
When creating an account, students should use a personal email address rather than their Valley View ISD student email so they can continue accessing their account after graduation.
My Texas Future and ApplyTexas use the same login information.
