Welcome to the Valley View ISD Gifted & Talented Program Page!

Valley View ISD is proud to support the unique learning needs of gifted and talented students. Our GT program is designed to challenge and inspire students through advanced academic opportunities, creative thinking strategies, and real-world problem-solving activities.

Research indicates that GT programs help children develop higher-level thinking skills, foster independence and self-motivation, and facilitate connections with peers who share similar interests and abilities. At Valley View ISD, we are dedicated to cultivating these strengths while fostering a supportive learning environment.

This page serves as your one-stop resource for all things related to GT, including program information, parent resources, enrichment opportunities, and our official GT handbook. Whether you're just beginning your GT journey or continuing along the path, you'll find tools here to help guide and support your student's success.

GT Program Overview & Parent Welcome

This section includes two important documents to help families understand and navigate the Gifted & Talented Program at Valley View ISD. The GT Awareness Presentation explains what it means to be a gifted student, outlines available services, and highlights opportunities for growth and advancement. The GT Orientation provides an overview of what parents can expect from the program, including student expectations and available support.

Program Resources

This section is designed to support parents and families of gifted learners by providing helpful information and resources.

  • The Texas Association for the Gifted & Talented (TAGT) is the nation’s largest state advocacy group. It provides a platform for more than 3,000 members to exchange ideas and information about the education of gifted and talented G/T students. Membership is open to educators, parents, and businesses.

  • The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) is the national advocacy group for gifted children.

  • Families of GT students statewide are invited to join a new network for Texas GT families!

The Gifted Education Family Network (GEFN) presents a new opportunity for GT families to access support, information, and connections with other families, thereby facilitating positive advocacy for Texas's GT programs, funding, and excellence in gifted education. GEFN is committed to equity and diversity in gifted education.  We support the annual GT Parent Conference at the Baylor Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development, as well as other low-cost opportunities for parent engagement across the state.
