Human Trafficking

Human Trafficking Awareness

Human trafficking is the recruitment, harboring, transporting, or exploitation of a person for labor or services through force, fraud, or coercion, including involuntary servitude or forced commercial sex acts.

While human trafficking is a global issue, it is also a concern in Texas. School-aged children can be vulnerable to manipulation and exploitation, and in some cases, victims may still attend school and interact regularly with staff and peers.

Traffickers often use control tactics such as threats, emotional manipulation, isolation, or abuse. Because of this, it is important for schools, families, and communities to remain aware and recognize potential warning signs.

Valley View ISD is committed to protecting students and providing a safe learning environment. Staff members receive required training to help identify and respond to concerns related to abuse, neglect, and human trafficking.

Reporting Concerns

Anyone who suspects that a child may be a victim of abuse, neglect, or human trafficking is required by law to report it. Professionals, including teachers, nurses, and school counselors, must report suspected abuse or neglect within 48 hours.

If you have concerns, please contact a campus administrator, school counselor, or report through the district’s available reporting systems
