Valley View ISD Superintendent Announces Retirement Plans

After 15 years of service to the Valley View Independent School District community and 49 years in public education, Mr. William Stokes, Valley View ISD Superintendent, has notified the VVISD Board of Trustees that he will retire on December 31, 2024.  To ensure a smooth transition in District leadership, Mr. Stokes and the Board have entered an agreement that will allow the Board to employ a new Superintendent for the 2024-25 school year while allowing him to act as an advisor to the new Superintendent and Board until his retirement.

Mr. Stokes has Served as Superintendent of Valley View ISD since January 2009.  During that time, he has been instrumental in maintaining and improving the financial integrity of the District, overseeing significant improvements to facilities, and making additions to the curriculum that includes full-time Pre-K, full-time Kindergarten, dual language instruction, and instrumental music.  District enrollment has increased by approximately 40% during Stokes’ tenure.

Mr. Stokes began his career in the education field as an industrial arts instructor in Moore, OK, and as a math teacher/counselor in Stratford, OK, before moving into administration.  He has served a total of 44 years as a School Superintendent in Oklahoma and Texas.
