Changes to School Policy Regarding E-Cigarettes, Vaping and Related Substances

The Texas Legislature passed House Bill 114, which makes offenses involving the possession and/or use of an e-cigarette/vape result in a mandatory DAEP placement.

Per State Guidelines, Valley View ISD will be required to place students caught in possession and/or using any type of ECIG/Vape into the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP). For DAEP placements, the district does not provide transportation, and students are not allowed at extracurricular events.

The 1st offense for having a vape in possession is five days DAEP.

The 2nd offense for having a vape in possession is ten days DAEP.

 

The 1st offense for using a vape is ten days DAEP.

The 2nd offense for using a vape is 15 days DAEP.

 

The consequences will go up from there at the administrator’s discretion.
