On Thursday, May 29, 2014, Valley View ISD recognized several employees. Among those recognized were Mike Wilson, Kay Glascock, and Mark Davidson.
Mike Wilson was the recipient for the Spring 2014 Eagles Above and Beyond Award. He was nominated because he is vital to the district’s operations, but rarely receives credit for all that he does. The District would probably come to a standstill without his willingness to put in many extra hours of work and his dedication to the district and community.
Mike Wilson works behind the scenes to keep a large IT network up and running, to keep the bus fleet in good repair and running, and to oversee the custodial and maintenance operations of the District. He is always willing to sub for his drivers, officiate JV games or perform any other task that he is asked to do. During the ice storms this winter Mr. Wilson made the long trek to work daily to check on the facilities and to try to get them ready to open when the roads became passable.
Mr. Wilson is quick to give credit to his co-workers for all they do for the District and is actually happiest when his efforts are not noticed as that means things are running smoothly. However, when something goes awry, he makes every effort to correct the situation as quickly as possible, even if it means giving up personal time. Mr. Wilson was also recognized for his 20 years of service at VVISD.
Kay Glascock was recognized for her 25 years of service at VVISD as well as her retirement at the end of the current school year. Mrs. Glascock has 31 years of service as a Texas public school employee. She received a service pin for her 25 years and a plaque with school bell for her retirement.
Mark Davidson was recognized for his 35 years of service at VVISD. He received an engraved golden whistle as well as a personalized wooden box.
