On March 14th the Valley View ISD along with Era ISD and Cooke County Emergency planning group held a mock bus accident near Highway 51 in Era. The exercise involved some Valley View ISD and Era ISD students, drivers and administration. Students were transported to Muenster Memorial Hospital and to the Gainesville Hospital where emergency room staff practiced emergency proceedures.
This was a MOCK accident. This exercise was for training purposes for both school districts and the emergency medical staffs of both hospitals.
Before the accident Cooke County Emergency Management Coordinator Ray Fletcher gives everyone the scenario of what has happened. Approximately 100 people participated in the event, including the Era Volunteer Fire Department, the Valley View Volunteer Fire Department, Gainesville EMS, Texas Department of Public Safety officers, students from Valley View and Era high schools and Care Flite.
